Overview of the Business

Home Harvest Organics (HHO) is a multifaceted sustainable urban agriculture services company that offers edible landscape design, installation, and maintenance services, as well as training and education for customers wishing to better understand sustainable agriculture (including organic gardening) and the multitude of benefits it holds for humanity and the Earth. At the heart of this values-driven business is a dedicated organic gardener and scientist who is incredibly passionate about and committed to researching soil, plants, hydrology, meteorology, landscape design, nutrition, food preparation/culinary arts, herb use, etcetera, and using this information in a synergistic way to create organic edible landscapes.

Philosophy

The production of high quality foods without substantial damage to the natural environment is an important consideration in developing healthy communities. Using edible plants and sustainable, organic techniques to landscape urban and suburban outdoor spaces offers the multiple benefits of creating beautiful environments, producing needed comestibles, and reducing wastes and pollution.

About the Owner

Justin Bursch is the owner and operator of Home Harvest Organics. He has long been a proponent and practitioner of sustainable living and derives great pleasure from working outdoors.

Justin holds a bachelor of sciences degree in molecular biology and biochemistry from the University of California and continues his education in the biological and horticultural sciences by reading numerous textbooks, guides, articles, and online literature, putting into practice the various organic agriculture methods and techniques he is researching.

When he's not out in the garden, Justin teaches at Austin Community College. He also enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and two young sons.
